The History Project

Where Trafford’s History Teachers Exchange Ideas

Next Meeting and Next Steps

The second History Project meeting took place last night. Thanks to Heidi of Stretford Grammar School for being the perfect host (and what a fantastic room).  Also, welcome to Jenny from Wellington: great to have you on board.

Matt talked to the group about Edu Blogs. Thanks. We are trying to add more users so that everybody can upload and store their resources. Of course, as usual, nobody is bothering to read the instructions so we are blundering around using trial and error. Perhaps we need a Learning to Learn course.

We’ve managed to add Matt as an administrator but the others don’t seem to have been picked up yet. Matt is already registered with Edu Biog and this may be why his email ws identified immediately and added to the administrator’s list. The others are not registered with Edu Blog yet, and may need to do so before thay can have full rights.

We\'re doing World War Two and all that Jazz.

No matter: Rome wasn’t built in day.  But then, you’re historians so don’t need to be told that.

Several schemes of work were exchanged including one covering the assassination of JFK (it was The Illuminati). Resources were swapped.  According to my notes Pele was discussed. He made footballing History, I suppose. Or it could be my handwriting.

Everybody talked about their favourite History videos. There was even a suggestion that stacks of old videos that aren’t watched anymore could be culled to make a video of best clips.

Another idea that seemed popular was to have a theme for the next meeting, either by subject or concept.  Also, future meetings will be entirley twilight so that cover isn’t an issue preventing attendance. Rob’s interested in seeing whether we can obtain funding for a North West History Teachers’ Conference.

A date wan’t fixed for next meeting but one will be sent around early next term.

Only 4 weeks till you break up…and 10 until you start the next acadmic year.

Fantsatic spirit last night. For all of you who couldn’t be there, please make a special effort in September.

It’s all about History teachers talking about History teaching.
